Goodies!

So, it's payday, and traditionally on payday I tend to hop online and grab myself a few treats and things that I've been meaning to get for myself.

...Today, in addition to a Good Judy sampler pack of the newest April scents, I stopped by Etsy. Do I really need to say more??

This is relevant to my interests! No, really! (okay, I was totally browbeaten by the voices in my head into buying it, shut up, I always need new t-shirts. Really. Like a hole in the head. =P)

And they had the prettiest itty bitty lace knitting stitch markers and I looooooove those cracked beads. I have a ton of them. Mad love. ^_^

Wicked Stitchery also only had ONE victorian/steampunk inspired vest for a large sized dollfie boy left (they had three in different colors back when I last looked) so since it was the last one... welllllll... (I'm stockpiling clothes for the boy. He'll be here sometime months from now, but he'll need clothes!)

And lastly I'm totally addicted to the Virtual Perfume Bar and making up my own custom blended scents. This time around it was Berry Zinger (raspberry + ginger) and Fixer (nag champa, oak moss + earl grey tea... okay, technically it should be coffee, but coffee notes smell awful on me so I went for tea instead. =P)

Given how much crap this week has been, this has significantly brightened up my friday. ^_^
[rubs paws together] Yay, impulse buying goodies!

* Coded an entire page (three column, lots of floats, tons of divs) from scratch, in textpad, in 4 hours (and made it for assignment deadline). Those multiple repeats of gutting and recoding the CSS of Wordpress styles have paid off!

* Migrated My-First-Sock from DPNs to a circular magic loop. I've never had problem with ladders before on DPNs until knitting the gusset on a sock. x_x NTS, start on DPNs and switch to magic loop after the gusset is picked up. Also? Never trust craft store brand needles. v_v The size 2 DPNs and size 2 circular from the same brand were NOT the same size. Like bloody hell they were the same size. Now knitting on a slightly larger gauge. ARGH.

* Re-did my [personal profile] glasmalerei layout after stealing the header graphic from my totally unused Vox layout because I liked it. And hey, it matches the Dreamwidth red layout. ^_^

Turning the heel of a sock - actually sort of fun and quick.

Forming the gusset of a sock - #$%*@! BORING and takes FOREVER*. ARGH.

Also, extreme humid weather goes badly with metal knitting needles. It makes them all sorts of sticky and gummy and hard to move my yarn on them, but I don't have any #2 bamboo needles. Again. Argh.

It is, I think, possible to have too much yarn... but is it ever possible to have too many sets of needles? =P

* "Forever" meaning "more than three bus rides" v_v

Or, things frequently overheard when Rose is oggling new yarns - "#$%^@! f$king superwash merino!!"

v_V Srsly, you would not think it was THIS difficult to get interesting colored NON WOOL sock yarns. Good grief.

I indulged a bit at Simply Socks. Before you ask, no, I don't knit socks. Can't figure out that whole heel turning bit. Also, I get bored doing the same pattern twice. =P I knit dollfie sweaters, which work fabulously in sock yarn on size 0 needles. ^_^

I did find one interesting striping cotton, and then I indulged and gave into the super pretty, even if it is 80% #$%@! superwash f$sking merino #$%@! wool. v_v It was cheap, I don't feel that bad. And then I decided to treat myself to one skein of the fancy stuff (still wool, but only 60%, and there's bamboo in there, which is wunderbar) because really, when you're knitting MSD sized sweaters, one skein goes a LONG way.

And a set of bamboo double points, because bamboo is my friend. ^__^

.....I probably really need to invest in a ball winder. I'm not ready to invest in a swift yet, I have feet for holding skeins with, but a ball winder would be nifty.
