Can it be Thursday now, so that I can go on vacation without having to do the whole Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday thing before hand? Pretty please?
Week 1 school assignments done. Very enthusiastic english teacher - she was grading anything that had been turned in even before the deadline. From the comment on my paper I think I must have made her day by being, y'know, coherent, grammatical, spellchecked and having followed all directions. =P Go me! Page layout assignment, on the other hand, was late by two hours. Ah well. I just couldn't wrap my head around it (and apparently I wasn't the only one, judging by the rather lackluster turnout of half assed things posted in the course gallery).
Saturday was possibly the WETTEST ren faire ever, but quite fun all the same. It never stopped raining, and what was muddy at the start of the day was lakes of ankle deep water and vast fields of ankle (or deeper) mud by the time we left at 2pm (we saw at least one car get stuck in the mud while trying to leave. Mine, thankfully, was on a relatively dry spot). But there were warm cinnamon nuts and hot cider, steak on a stake, oyster shooters, and various bits of shopping. We all had hand warmers shoved into our pockets and while we were fairly soaked nobody was too awfully muddy. And the rain meant the faire was mostly empty - no waiting in lines! No crowds! Quite nice. People started showing up in the afternoon in sudden droves, but we were leaving by then so it worked out perfectly. But mincing about on mud slicks trying not to get stuck or fall over is apparently more tiring than you'd think - I got home, laid down, and that was pretty much all she wrote. =P
Today was school, school, laundry, school and more school. Meh.And my second story for the BF competition is getting a sort of lackluster response and I can't tell if it's because of close proximity to some really stellar writers on the voting poll or if it sucks. I have the distinct feeling that it sucks. (well. relatively. I wouldn't have submitted it if it had REALLY sucked. But it sucks more than the first one did. =P) [waves paw] Never mind. That's the insecurity brainworm talking. It's getting really nice comments, just not a lot of votes. I think it's probably partially the length which is making people look squinty eyed at it and back away. =P But if nothing else I suppose the prompts are good for getting practice at writing finite self contained pieces.
I have a fairly intensive week of school work to complete in 3 days, more or less. (I may have to borrow Tae or Radish's keyboard and connection in order to mop up some last bits like uploading my english paper. =P) That, and I need to clear everything off my desk at work. And write up a few SOPs so that the guys know how to do the stuff I do while I'm gone. And pack. Yeah. I think I really need to get some sleep now. x_X
