so, that shoulder that I banged up back in august. which has, off and on, but consistently at least once a day, been twinging at me every since, and which the initial doc looked at, said to ice and rest it, and it's probably a muscle, it'll be okay.
Today, while reaching for the advil, I decided this was bullshit. muscle should not be requiring me to take 2 aleve or 3 advil nearly every day for a month. If it is, then something's really wrong. So I popped down to the wellness center and we did all sorts of "move this way, move that way, push/pull against me" until the ache I'd gone down there with was a sharp stabbing pain of aggrevation and I could clearly say "it hurts right HERE and this is what type of pain it is".
good news is that I probably didn't tear the rotor cuff. but there's this big old bundle of nerves that threads through your collarbone and weaves between the muscles of your shoulder - yeah, guess where the pain exactly is? uh huh. somebody pinched a nerve, and has been daily irritating it to a lesser or minor degree ever since due to typing, or leaning on my elbows, or all the lifting and moving stuff around at work.
so now I have a prescrip for naproxen to be taken regularly for a few weeks (the doctor did the u_u face at me when I admitted I'd only been taking the aleve when it hurt - sayeth she, "preventative medication, not reactive!") and then possibly some PT after but mostly, right now, I've got a heating pad wrapped around my shoulder and this is overall much better. yaaaaay, heat.
